Extensions and Enrichment

Extensions and Enrichment

1. Talk about water in different forms...ice, rain, etc. Have students find pictures or draw pictures of as many water forms as they can.

2. Lead a discussion on basic needs for survival. Focus attention on the need for water. Talk about how unique the earth is and review why it is called the "Blue Planet." Talk about the uses of water and why it is important for earth's survival. Have students look through magazines for pictures that illustrate how water is used.

3. Show images of Venus and Jupiter's moon Io (relatively few craters). Ask students to speculate as to why there are relatively few craters (previous water effects, general geologic activity of the surface.)

4. Look at Europa. There appears to be evidence of water on Europa.
