Extensions and Enrichment

Have students visit fema.gov/kids/hurr.htm for additional information and images of volcanoes, eruptions, jungle and forest fires, diversion of rivers from flooding, avalanches, hurricane paths, ocean currents, movement of schools of fish or mammals, paths of ships going to Puget Sound.

Tell students that they will be reading about a toy disaster which is a true story. Have a student read Log 1&endash;Extension and have students work alone or in pairs to complete the directions at the end of the story.
